Tips and Area

Where to eat:
Da Gemma:
Reach Da Gemma by passing through a vaulted tunnel beginning at Piazzetta in an underground passages. The cuisine includes authentic versions of Caprese specialities such as creamy version of mussel soup, followed by one of many kinds of grilled fish, as well as filets of veal or chicken prepared with lemon and garlic or with Marsala wine. A specialty is a fritto Gemma, a medley of fried foods that includes fried zucchini blossoms, potato croquettes, fried mozzarella, and a miniature pizza. Pastas include linguine with scampi and scialatielli with porcini mushrooms or with zucchini. During warm weather, the site expands from its cramped 14th-century core onto a covered open-air terrace with sweeping views of the Gulf of Naples. While during cool weather, the Forno di Gemma - just accross the street - is a must for one of the best pizza in town.
Address:Via Madre Serafina, 6, Capri, Italy - Phone: 081-8370461
La Fontelina:
In the Lido La Fontelina, one should not miss the omonymous restaurant. Due to its position right on the water’s edge, seafood is almost a must. For a different starter, try the polpette di melanzane (eggplant fritters), and then dip into the vegetable buffet. Highly recommendable is the house sangria, an iced blissful mix of white wine and peaches. Access is either by boat from Marina Piccola or on foot from Punta Tragara (10 minutes). Only lunch is served.
Address: La Fontelina, at the end of Via Tragara, Capri Town, Italy - Phone: 081-8370845
Walking Tours:
Pizzolungo:
Take the stairs to Via Tragara and discover the wonderful path along the cliffs connecting Tragara to Villa Malaparte and the Arco Naturale. The walk takes about one and an half hour and offers spectacular vistas over the costiera amalfitana and the Galli islands.

Lido Faraglioni and Lido Fontelina:

Both lidos, "Da Luigi ai Faraglioni" and “La Fontelina" may be reached through a wonderful path with steps and ladders from Tragara. Both lidos give access to fathoms-deep blue water.
